Coastal Georgia is one of my favorite parts of the world. After spending time on Ossabaw Island, Little St. Simon's Island and Cumberland Island, it's hard not to be head over heels. And then of course, there's Savannah. And in Savannah live two savvy women, Cindy Edwards and Stephanie Duttenhaver. Inspired by their Southern roots, the Georgia coast and a need for quality, healthy beauty products, they started their own line, Sapelo Skin Care.
This never began as just another skin care line. Their products are formulated to increase collagen, elastin and skin cells without the use of harmful ingredients. Cindy and Stephanie's intention was to scientifically make the best blends using the best possible ingredients with in house physician advisors. As they shared with me recently, "Sapelo is designed to replicate the body's natural immune response by gently infusing peptides that mimic the peptides that our own immune system releases after the skin is injured."
They are known for their 3 step Skin Recovery System with is formulated to revitalize and rejuvenate the skin. These include a serum, rejuvenating cream and a softening emollient with essential oils. As I get older, I look to companies like Sapelo that care about ingredients. As they shared, "We wish more women understood more about the harsh ingredients used in many products...many beauty products are full of silicone based lubricants that make the products smooth as silk over your skin but these ingredients are not good for your skin and do not nourish the skin. They are just filler and lubricants."
My favorite part is their intention and tenacity to use items that are Southern based. Their Renewing Serum is infused with gardenia stem cells, magnolia oil extract and seaweed. Their Rejuvenating Cream is infused with gardenia stem cells, magnolia oil, oyster shell calcium, seaweed and Georgia honey. I haven't had the chance to try their 3 step program yet but after reading the positive reviews, it's on my list. For if it makes my skin as happy as the Georgia coast makes me- offering even a hint of a reminder of life by the sea, I'll be stocking those bathroom shelves...
