Zuhal Kanar

As my dog Sid is healing from recent surgery and lying at my feet, I've been sitting at my desk a lot, perusing my favorite design blogs and Etsy. When I happened upon this watercolor painting by Zuhal Kanar of Houston, Texas, I immediately connected to the peace, calm and hopeful energy it exuded. I wanted to share...

Zuhal describes her work as "bright, colorful and modern design." I especially like her flowered plant paintings. A pretty simplicity is never overrated....

As Zuhal describes, "This is the first piece in my new art doll series, influenced by antique English dolls." The hair is embroidered for an amusing, sweet touch.

Zuhal is daily inspired by the natural world. See all of her lovely work here, which includes all manner of colorful birds, plants and mammals. Thanks for your pretty, peaceful creations Zuhal, they are appreciated...

The art doll painting is almost mesmerizing. Very beautiful. Thanks, Pam, for introducing us to another artist that I probably never would have known about otherwise. And three cheers for Sidney the Wonder Dog! What an amazing journey you both have been on with his 'death sentence'. I'm proud of both of you!

You're right, Zuhal's designs are simple but there's something very special about them. For instance that doll with the embroidered hair, I felt better just by staring at it.
