The latest issue of the incredibly inspiring magazine, Living etc gave me the idea of a blog entry for today...Ideas to Steal. (which includes the name of their column, apparently) I'm always seeing wonderful ideas in the blogs I peruse so I thought I'd share some of my recent favorites. My new goal for spring yard sales is to find some old pant hangers like these above. I just love the idea of using them to hang art. And I adore these two prints but have no idea who the artists are?
Traditional photos in rows of frames can be so boring...I like the idea of trying something different, as these examples above showcase so well.
I have a few decals in my home and I never thought of enhancing them with 3d objects. Such a cool idea as your decal can quickly become its own original art piece.
Oh how I'd love to have these yellow stairs. In my adult life, I've never lived in a two story home but someday I plan to and when I do, I'll be sure to give them some color and personality. Wallpaper is one of my favorite ways to enhance a space, but it can also be expensive- that's why I like these alternative ideas of using newspapers or colorful maps. Inexpensive ideas for this are endless...
A room divider made of reclaimed wood? It's worth every penny as it's an instant conversation piece that offers warmth, character and cool.
I like the idea of taking photographs of inanimate objects that are well composed and interesting (maybe they are taken from your own house or your grandma's house) and then making a personal, modern piece of art. And what a smart idea to place singular, colorful flowers in front a mirror- just love the reflection.
Old maps for window treatments...
I always need more room for my books. People often overlook their doorways but they offer a great space to go vertical and add some storage.
There are a few things to love here...the reclaimed wood pallets as a headboard, the use of empty frames to place artwork into and those wonderful side shelves that look like they are made from wood and chains. Ah, how I wish I was more handy...
