Gearing up for fall, I found a soft spot for these great paper mache pumpkins I recently saw from the Etsy shop, Cloth and Patina. Tammy from Boca Raton, Florida makes these lovely creations using torn, vintage book pages. As she explains, "I have always had a love for vintage paper and so often would see old, damaged books being discarded and just knew I had to come up with something to repurpose these beautiful pages." The final Southern touch... a little spanish moss and curly cue.
Tammy scours Florida and takes road trips around the South to seek out her product. These vintage pieces of flatware are always a favorite find for Tammy. As she explains, "The beautiful detail that graces each piece and the fact that you can pair different patterns for a charming setting makes them all the more attractive."
Tammy often designs for weddings and these lovely burlap covered candles are a sweet accompaniment to any rustic inspired nuptial. She is attracted to the versatility of burlap and by customizing each one with pretty stenciling, she is able to achieve what she loves most- "a simple, classic and charming look." I like her philosophy behind her craft. As she states, "Our days and lives can be stressful and it gives me great joy to add a little elegance and charm to the unexpected."
Tammy repurposed some vintage spice bottles by adding a french inspired label, twine and an antique mother of pearl button. Tammy recommends filling them with bath salts, tiny twigs or leave them as is...too sweet.
Her Etsy shop is so soothing and I realized that has a lot to do with her choices of color. As she says, "I am really attracted to a neutral color palette and soft weathered woods in grays and browns. Together they feel warm, inviting and just peaceful to the soul." I feel more calm just by doing this post! Thanks so much for sharing your lovely artistry with us Tammy...
